Description I started this sketch on Saturday with the idea that the people and artists tents would be a colorful subject to paint as demo during the St. Louis Art Fair. But when I saw the stilt walker ambling down the street toward me I knew she would be the star of my sketch. Covering several blocks in downtown Clayton, the St. Louis Art fair is an annual three-day event attended by thousands that highlights three hundred artists, two musical stages and great food by area restaurants. On Sunday when the street performer wandered by me again I called out to her to show her my sketch. She paused long enough to introduce herself as Claire Wedemeyer. She is a Chicago-based professional variety act entertainer currently performing a one-person show at City Museum. When I asked her about walking through the large crowds at the fair she seemed unfazed but said After about seven hours on stilts and juggling, I do start feeling a little light. Yes she was juggling too!
